Transatlantic

Transatlantic cruises can either be cross the Atlantic for the sake of crossing the ocean (like in the old days of cruising) or as a repositioning cruise. Repositioning cruises occur because at the end of every season ships need to go from the Caribbean to Europe and vice versa. These voyages tend to be fairly empty and relatively inexpensive, even on luxury ships. The typical transatlantic voyage that is not done as a repositioning cruise is New York to Southampton or Dover. Other transatlantic destinations include Miami, Lisbon, and other ports located on the Atlantic Ocean. A crossing can take anywhere from a few days to two weeks, depending on the ports of call and the purpose of the cruise.
